Castle of Monsanto

The Castle of Monsanto, Beira Baixa, is located in the parish and village of Monsanto, Idanha-a-Nova, Castelo Branco District, Portugal.

The granite top Monsanto Hill, on the right bank of the river Pônsul this frontier medieval castle dominates the Historical Village, architectural complex which sets out some manors mansions and temples, such as the ruins of the Chapel of St. Michael in Romanesque style.
