The Fundão municipality is located in the Central Region of Portugal, more specifically in Cova da Beira, it includes 23 parishes in an area of 700.13 km². The county comprises part of the most fertile land in the region where the Zêzere river and its many streams and tributaries give life to fantastic river beaches and feed the big productions of cherries, sour cherries, peaches, olive oil and wine.

Known for the snow, which every winter attracts thousands of snow sports practitioners and enthusiasts of fun to the only ski trail in the country, the mountain has many other attractions such as the variety of fauna and flora.

Rede Natura 2000 and in Geopark Naturtejo, Gardunha Mountain is about 20 km long and 1224 meters in height, that turn it a great visiting-card. Its slopes populated by forests of pine and oak and extensive cherry orchards offer a festival of colors throughout the year. In the Summer the green trees, in Autumn the variety of brown, gold and red colors, in the Spring rebirth of life through the cheerful white robe of the cherry blossoms.
